About Seyi Attires

Hello! I’m Seyi (Shaiyee), and thank you for viewing my shop. Indulge me as I share my journey of this fantastic passion of mine.

As a daughter born of the Yorùbá (Ìjẹ̀bú) tribe of Nigeria, it comes as utmost importance to show and share with the world the vibrancy of the African culture. What better way to do this than through beautiful and colourful fabrics.

I absolutely enjoy wearing my Ankara outfits to work and any given occasion, and so look to family in Nigeria to help me buy and sew outfits. However, Overtime, I grew impatient of waiting for kindred to send outfits from Nigeria and in some cases got frustrated on the outcome of outfits sent (Classic case of what I ordered versus what I got. Thus began my journey to embrace and satisfy my crafting passion and learning how to sew.

I have since and continuously derive absolute joy sourcing and turning colourful "Ankara" cotton prints into beautiful outfits, home décor and thoughtful gifts for family and friends.

At one point, a thought hit me,

“I must share this joy and opportunity of beautiful fabrics and apparels with other fellow yearning artisans, who face the same issue as me!”

And so, SEYI ATTIRES was born.

My dearest, be rest assured: all my beautiful array of Ankara fabrics are sourced from Ọjà Balógun (Balogun Market), Lagos, Nigeria, the home of fabrics and haberdashery in West Africa. This will ensure steady income for me and hardworking Lagos fabric sellers.

I’m a firm believer of sustainability and leaving our planet clutter-free. Therefore all my fabric scraps are up-cycled to beautiful accessories or sold on to crafters that request for them.

I do hope that the passion in my rich Nigerian cultural heritage graciously touch YOU, my wonderful customers, in every fabric, apparels and accessories.

Happy shopping!
