Yes, all my fabrics designs are printed double sided, making both sides look almost identical.
The best way to spot the wrong side of the fabric is by looking at the numbering on the selvages (the width ends) of the fabric: the wrong side of the fabric shows the numbering backwards.
You can also spot the wrong side of the fabric as the side where the printed design seems faded.. This advice is for those who’ve had the misfortune of forgetting to indicate the wrong side of the fabric with a tailor’s chalk.
(I know…it’s happened to me too😁)
Yes, the Ankara fabric is a soft and smooth cotton fabric, thinly coated in harmless wax, giving the fabric a little bit of stiffness.
The wax will most definitely come off after 1-2 washes.
Ankara print fabrics are made through a wax-resist dyeing technique, also known as batik.
In this technique, methods are used to “resist” the dye from reaching all the cloth, thereby creating a pattern.
The lack of divergence in color intensity can also help with to spot the right and wrong side of the fabric.
Ankara commonly known as “Ankara prints”, “African prints”,”African wax prints” “Holland wax” and “Dutch wax”, is a 100% cotton fabric with vibrant patterns.
It is usually a colorful cloth and is primarily associated with Africa because of its tribal-like patterns and motifs.
To remove the label, iron the opposite side of the cloth where the label is located. The gently peel off the label.
Note that there will still be a sticky residue left afterwards.
